Check the new method below for preferred installation! Easyinstall has been deprecated. Please use get-pip.py instead. Step #1 — First of all download the get-pip file by running: curl -o get-pip.py. Step #2 — Now run this file to install pip. Python get-pip.py. That should do it. This procedure is tested on Mac OS X 10.10.5 with Developpers tools installed (xCode). PHP 5.6 installed with Homebrew. Download the following files from Oracle website (yes, you need to create an account and accept terms): instantclient-basic-macos.x64-11.2.0.4.0.zip; instantclient-sqlplus-macos.x64-11.2.0.4.0.zip.
This sounds like you have a process(s) that are which are consuming lots of memory and forcing the Mac to page-out to disk. the /var/vm/swapfile(s) get deleted when you reboot, which would explain the space coming back after you boot. The kernel_task is the guts of Mac OS X, and is responsible for doing process paging. Another indication it might be process paging that is going on.
I would start looking at the Activity Monitor -> Memory tab.

Also 4GB free is not a lot of space, and you should consider freeing up some more space. It may even be possible to upgrade the SSD storage with 3rd party options (just something to consider).

You might also consider posting the EtreCheck output to see if there are any 3rd party additions that maybe contributing to your problem.
